In 20 years Susan and I have seen a variety of wildlife. They have to be seen in my lot 126, Burn Pile Park, or in the pond. Over 50 species of birds including: chickadees, nuthatches, flickers, variety of woodpeckers, hummingbirds, stellar jays, owls, band tailed pigeons (80-120) every season, ducks, herons, hawks, bald eagle, and chickens. We have observed their mating rituals and teaching their offsprings. We have also seen a lynx capturing a squirrel, 3 coyotes (2 gray and 1 red), a bear, beavers, ferret, generations of deer. The doe’s will bring their fawns into my lot to show them off.
One year we had a piebald fawn, it was very precocious and daring. Raccoons, as many as 20 at a time, we learned NOT TO FEED them! Squirrels (even flying squirrels) and chipmunks. Three foot long garter snake, a purple salamander, a white frog, and serenading frogs. Feeding helps getting wildlife in your area, sun flower seeds, bird seed, cracked corn. For the deer, dear block, whole apples, and pears (THAT’S ALL)! Sit outside and watch Mother Nature, no reruns or commercials.
